NYSUT United Reprint:  Why tenure matters to all of us

Tenure allows 'excellent' teachers
to 'push the boundaries'

"Public Education, NOT Private Profits!" Protest

Aug. 11, 2014
Hundreds of NYSUT members take to the steps of the New York State Education Department to protest corporate influence on public education.

On Thursday, October 17, 2013 union representatives and PTA members from across the Island attended a TALI event, aptly named "Public Education at the Crossroads, 2.0."  Jeannette Deutermann, Opt-Out Movement Advocate, and Levittown Teachers Association member John Lipani provided informative presentations on high-stakes testing and imposition of an unfair tax cap.  Audience members contributed essential insight into the impact of these decisions on our educational communities. Watch this ten-minute video which provides perspective on the event.
